“Look here, you rich people: Weep and groan with
anguish because of all the terrible troubles ahead of you.” – James 5: 1 (NLT)

The Gospel reminds us of being rich. To become rich
is not a sin, but it is a sin when we are possessed by our richness.
Jesus in
the Gospel is not only talking about the wealth regarding our worldly things
but it is the capacity and talents that we have within ourselves. Our human
tendency usually feels comfortable with what we have or might have - including claiming our
personal gifts. But we forget that everything we have is only
temporary.
As we are about to begin the season of Lent, let us then question
ourselves: what do I possess or what should I let go - out of my richness -
that disturbs me to share?
