Locutus est | God Speaks

"God speaks to us through his Son" - Hebrew 1:2.

Nowadays, we get so many words, thoughts, and ideas from mass-media. In addition, our friends, family members, and other people keep speaking and sharing their problems, hopes, sufferings, and joys. Consequently, while we focus on prayer and try to listen to the word of God carefully we feel overloaded and unable to receive the message from God.

What should we do and how can we react if it happens. The author of the Letter to Hebrews reminds us that God speaks to us through his Son Jesus Christ. He is the One whom we should follow and listen to with attention. For everything starts from Jesus and also finishes in Jesus. Our life, people, nature, and all things are created by him. Thanks to him we can see, hear, feel and understand what is going on. For he is the Light of our life and through him, we can approach God the Father.

All the time, Jesus Christ sustains the universe with his powerful word (Heb 1:3). Furthermore, he helps us comprehend the sense of our existence on the earth. If we pay attention only to the words of the world, we get depressed. We cannot stand up to all the lies, hypocrisy, and sins. On the other hand, if we read the word of God, we open ourselves for the heavenly kingdom. We get insight into the inner life of God - the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit with all the angels. We enter into the divine communion with the Father and with his beloved Son. We listen to their song of love, peace, and gladness which springs out from the Holy Spirit. Eventually, we worship God who makes his angels winds, and his servants flames of fire (Heb 1:7).

Thus, we partake in the beautiful harmony of the universe which God's Son embraces. We also accept everything which happens in the same way as Jesus Christ did. We pray with him, work with him and talk to him. Overall, we are able to love what is right and reject what is wrong (Heb 1:9). We remain in him and he remains in us with his powerful word. So "nothing can separate us from his love - there is nothing in all creation that is able to separate us from the love of God which is ours through Christ Jesus our Lord" (Rom 8:39).
