"So Christ has now become the High Priest over all the good
things that have come..." - Hebrews 9: 11 (NLT)
Have you ever needed to get something done with the government but there was so much red tape that you have to get through to get it done? Then you found out that you had a best friend who worked in that office. You proceeded to contact him, and soon after that you got your problems solved. By having someone on the inside that knows you and cares for you is the deal breaker.
In our reading for today (vs 15) Jesus Christ is our Mediator between us and the Heavenly Father. Lord Jesus stands as our
representative - between us and the Holy Father. The best part of this is our Lord Jesus
Christ is 100% man and 100% God.
He knows what we are going through in this life because He
lived it for 33,5 years. He knew what it means when everybody left your side.
He knew what it means when your best friend betrayed you. He knew what it means
to be broken-hearted when no one believes you.
On the other hand, the fact that He is 100% God, gives us the hope that not
only He hears and cares for our needs but also He is able to answer our prayers,
to lift our burdens and to heal our brokenness. This is the reason why at the end
of our prayer, we close it by saying "in Jesus’ name, we pray, Amen (so be
it)".
So when we pray to our Heavenly Father, we have the confidence that God hears our prayer, because our Mediator who always stands before the Heavenly Father is our “Best Friend”. We can come boldly before the throne of Grace, knowing that someone up there in heaven is advocating to the Heavenly Father on our behalf. So when we pray, we ought to pray and believe that God listens and that God will answer our prayer according to His will.
Have you prayed today? Have you prayed in Jesus’ name?
