All of us try to make our lives as comfortable as possible. Nobody wants to put their lives in trouble knowingly. Today the words of Jesus are challenging us to reflect and see whether the life that we live now will help us to enter into his kingdom or not.
The kingdom of God promised by Jesus and which he will establish at his second coming is what we all hope for. The earthly life that we live is a time given for us to prepare to enter into the kingdom of God. Sometimes we are carried away by the world and we tend to forget to see the future. We limit our thinking just to the present life, making it secure with money and various other things. We put our trust not in God but rather on the earthly riches.
Jesus is making a strong warning to us today through this gospel passage, that those who try to make their life secure will lose it. If we want to keep our lives forever in eternity we need to lose it to the world that we live in. Which means that we need to put our trust in God and not on the things that we possess. We need to let go of our ego, pride, desire for name and fame, wealth, pleasures of the world and we need to deny ourselves so that we can save our lives.
With proper humility and awareness that only Jesus can save my life and I need to trust in him completely like a child, will make sure that we enter in the kingdom of God promised by Jesus.
Let us secure our lives with faith, love, grace and prayer.
