"By faith in the name of Jesus, the man whom you see and know was made strong..." - Act 3:16 (NIV)
In the place called Solomon's Colonnade, people are astonished and come running to Peter and John and the man they used to know as a lame man who sat and begged for years. That man is now walking even jumping while praising God. Peter reminds them not to think that it was by the apostles' power and godliness the man could walk. Instead, through faith in the name of Jesus, the man was healed.
In many parts of the New Testament we can see how Jesus healed people based on their faith in Him. "...your faith has healed you" (Mat 9:22), "According to your faith, it will be done to you" (Mat 9:29), "Go your way, your faith has made you well" (Mark 10:52), and so on.
Without faith we can never please God (Heb 11:6). Often times we rely on our logic more and put faith somewhere else. If this is what happens, we need to be the father who was rebuked by Jesus for his unset faith (Mark 9:14-29). Immediately the boy's father exclaimed, "I do believe; help me overcome my unbelief!"
The crucial thing is we need to know who Jesus is and then believe in Him. Peter rebuked the Israelites who were ignorant of who Jesus was. Jesus, the Author of life, the Holy and Righteous One, who they rejected and traded with a murderer and handed over to be killed. Sometimes, we think we do or choose the right things. While actually we have done the opposite. We lose the most important thing without realizing it.
Let's ask the Holy Spirit to enlighten our minds and hearts, to be able to see the Truth.
