Vince in bono | Overcome evil

"Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." -Romans 12:21 (NIV)

People hurt us. It is painful. Immediately we want to take revenge. We think it will ease our pain. But no. It opens a never ending battle which the winner will be the devil itself.

The Scripture today talks about love. A sincere one. Not a fake one. Even for enemies. It is easy to love your dear ones. But not enemies. Verse 19 says, "Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: 'It is mine to avenge; I will repay', says the Lord." That brings peace to our mind. God knows the best.

Moreover we are instructed to spread love to the people who have hurt us.  If they are hungry, feed them. When they are thirsty give them some drink. Do it sincerely. The Word says it may heap burning coals of shame on his head. It dulls their weapons.

This is a practical passage. When you read, you understand what to do. No need for a deep interpretation. Things like, help God's people in need and be friends with all including the 'nobodies' - do not think you are greater than others. And many noble values.

Verse 21 says, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good." Let love win and God be glorified. Amen.
