But Mary was standing outside at the tomb weeping. So as she wept, she stooped and looked into the tomb- John 20:11

Dear brethren, today is July 16, we reflect on the incident of Mary Magdalene who visited the empty tomb and felt very sad because she thought that someone had taken Jesus from the tomb.

Peace is only possessed by humble people who try every day to draw their hearts closer to God even though they feel they do not deserve it. When we tirelessly ask God for the grace of forgiveness for all the offenses we have committed, realize all our weaknesses and surrender ourselves completely to His will, then that’s the time God's grace, works.  An empty tomb is like our heart which is far away from God, it’s just like our barren soul which is always away from the source of life-giving water, which is Jesus Himself.  The two guardian angels of the grave remind us of the voice of our own hearts that is our conscience; an inner voice that always reminds us that we must be able to stay away from evil deeds and must do and keep all the good deeds.  If we never hone our conscience or our inner voice, if we continue to ignore it, then we will naturally feel barren, our soul will be so far from peaceful.

Jesus, who rebuked Mary Magdalene who was so sad and crying, in everyday life rebukes and greets us too, He is waiting for us to come to Him.  God really longs for us to be able to come home at any time, even if only for a minute. God is waiting for us to give Him thanks, not complain. God wants to see us patient and strong in facing life's problems, not despair.  In fact, it is never too late to start our new life again, it is not too late to get up from every fall.

Come on, hurry home and look for Jesus who was thought to be the garden keeper by Mary Magdalene, so that our hearts will always be at peace and not barren and dry like an empty tomb.  God bless.
