Penyangkalan Petrus sebanyak tiga kali terhadap Kristus ditemukan dalam semua empat kitab Injil. Banyak orang bertanya, mengapa pemimpin para murid menyangkal mengenal Yesus Kristus? Tentu saja, kita tidak tahu persisnya seperti apa, tetapi ketakutan mungkin salah satu alasan utamanya. 

Meskipun semua murid lainnya telah melarikan diri, Petrus masih mengikuti Yesus setelah penangkapan-Nya, tetapi dia menjaga jaraknya. Petrus menyaksikan Yesus yang sedang dituduh secara palsu, dipukuli, dan dihina. Petrus pasti diliputi oleh ketakutan. Sebelumnya, Yesus telah memperingkatkan murid-murid-Nya, serta kita hari ini, "Jikalau dunia membenci kamu, ingatlah bahwa ia telah lebih dahulu membenci Aku dari pada kamu" (Yohanes 15:18). Petrus tidak seberani yang dia katakan sebelumnya. Dalam ketakutannya, dia menyangkal Yesus Kristus. 

Mungkin Petrus merasa tidak layak, tidak "cukup baik" setelah penyangkalannya. Meskipun Petrus menyangkal Yesus Kristus, dia diberi kesempatan kedua. Yesus masih menginginkan hubungan dengan dia dan Petrus masih memiliki peran sangat penting yang harus dipenuhi. Kita dapat membaca kesempatan baru ini dalam Yohanes 21. Itu terjadi setelah kebangkitan Yesus, ketika Yesus memasak sarapan pagi bagi murid-murid-Nya di tepi danau Galilea di atas bara api (Yohanes 21:9). Yesus tidak mengatakan kepada Petrus bahwa dia tidak cukup baik, dan bahwa dia perlu waktu untuk membuktikan dirinya lagi. Yesus hanya bertanya kepadanya: "Apakah engkau mengasihi aku?" (Yohanes 21:15). Ini adalah pertanyaan penting bagi setiap orang percaya, setiap hari kita bertanya: Apakah engkau mengasihi Yesus? Tidak peduli apa yang terjadi sebelumnya, apakah engkau mengasihi Yesus Kristus, sebagai Juruselamatmu untuk hari ini? Apakah engkau menerima karya keselamatan-Nya yang sempurna, lengkap dan telah selesai itu? 

 

Mungkin engkau pernah mendengar dari orang lain bahwa "kamu tidak cukup baik". 

Bahkan orangtua, guru, atau seorang teman mengatakan bahwa "engkau tidak cukup baik". Ucapan itu bisa sangat menyakitkan dan kamu mungkin mulai mempercayainya. Tetapi dengan Yesus Kristus dalam hidupmu, kamu selalu cukup baik. Kamu adalah anaknya yang terkasih. Selama engkau menerima anugerah pengampunan dosa yang berharga dan yang diberikan dengan Cuma-Cuma, menerima Dia sebagai Juruselamat dan Tuhan, kamu adalah anak-Nya yang terkasih. 

 

Seperti yang ditulis oleh Petrus sendiri dalam 2 Petrus 3:9: "Ia sabar terhadap kamu, karena Ia menghendaki supaya jangan ada yang binasa". Mari kita membangun hubungan pribadi dengan Tuhan dan Juruselamat kita. Dia berdiri di pintu dan mengetuk. Mari pastikan untuk membuka pintu dan membiarkan-Nya masuk ke dalam hidup kita (Wahyu 3:20).

Indonesian version: Memuliakan

Aku telah mempermuliakan Engkau di Bumi. – Yohanes 17: 4

Dalam bagian ini terdapat undangan untuk memuliakan Tuhan agar menjadi bagian dalam kebaikan. Siapa yang mencintai dan percaya kepada Tuhan akan memiliki kehidupan yang kekal. Setiap orang harus mengenal kebaikan, berjalan di jalan tanpa dosa dan melakukan kebaikan. 

 

Kamu tidak perlu takut akan apa pun, tenanglah jika kamu tahu telah melakukan kebaikan dan memuliakan nama Tuhan. Mari kita berdoa agar dimuliakan dalam nama Tuhan untuk menjadi bagian dari- Nya. 

 

Kita harus berjuang dan berusaha keras untuk membagikan Firman Tuhan dengan lebih baik agar supaya semua orang akan menjadi saksi kebesaran cinta Tuhan kepada kita semua. Sadarilah bahwa segala sesuatu yang kita miliki adalah anugerah dari Tuhan. Ketika kita membagikan Firman Tuhan, kita memiliki kekuatan besar di dalam diri kita. Itu bukan hanya kekuatan kita, Tuhan berbicara melalui kita. 

 

Saya berdoa kepada semua orang yang telah memberikan kesempatan untuk bertemu dengan mereka sepanjang perjalanan hidup saya, karena lewat menjalin hubungan dengan orang-orang ini, membuat saya mampu menjadi jiwa yang indah seperti sekarang ini. Saya menikmati hidup dalam nama-Mu mencoba melakukan yang terbaik untuk menjadi sebaik mungkin seperti Engkau dalam mencintai sesama. 

 

Lakukan yang terbaik untuk menyelamatkan lebih banyak jiwa karena Tuhan selalu menang melawan iblis.

" Siapakah yang kamu cari ? " - Yoh 18:4

Pernahkah kamu bertanya-tanya, jika seseorang ingin mendapatkan perawatan saluran akar gigi, kamu akan memerlukan seorang dokter gigi yang berijazah dan mungkin seorang dokter gigi terkenal dan bagus untuk melakukan perawatan. Jika seseorang ingin rambutnya dipotong, dia akan mengunjungi penata rambut. Jika seseorang ingin mobil nya diperbaiki, kamu akan memerlukan montir mobil. Jadi pada dasarnya untuk setiap keperluanmu , kamu menyuruh seseorang untuk memberikan pelayanan. Ketika kita berfokus pada bagian dari kitab Yohanes pasal 18 ayat 2 sampai 8 dimana Yesus akan ditangkap, dikhianati oleh Yudas murid-Nya. Kristus memilih untuk ditemukan di taman. Keadaan Kristus sama seperti Adam yang ditemukan di taman. Namun, Kristus adalah Adam kedua yang sempurna yang adalah seorang pemberi hidup. Yesus tahu apa yang akan terjadi, lalu keluar dan menanyai mereka: " Siapakah yang kamu cari?" Yesus dari Nazaret, " jawab mereka. " Akulah Dia, " kata Yesus.

Hari ini Yesus menanyai kita dengan pertanyaan yang sama " Siapakah yang kamu cari?" ijinkan saya untuk menekankannya. ' Siapakah ' dan bukan ' Apakah '. Siapakah Yesus bagi kita? Itu adalah satu pertanyaan yang kita perlu pikirkan cukup dalam, siapakah Yesus bagi kita. Apakah peran-Nya dalam hidup kita. Apakah Dia hanya seseorang yang menjawab doa-doa kita disaat kita perlu. Atau apakah Yesus pusat hidup kita?

Sebelum kita menjawab pertanyaan tersebut, kita harus mencari kebenaran itu, menikmati kebenaran itu dan mempercayai nya. Marilah kita hari ini menanyai diri kita masing-masing: Siapakah Yesus bagi kita secara pribadi?

"memberi kesaksian tentang kebenaran " - Yoh 18:37

Baru-baru ini saya menonton film Jepang berjudul " Monster " . Ada banyak orang di dalam film tersebut tinggal di Jepang dan memiliki masalah dengan kebenaran. Mereka tidak mengatakan yang sebenarnya dan oleh karena itu hidup mereka memprihatinkan. Sangatlah sulit tidak hanya bagi mereka tetapi juga bagi sanak saudaranya turut merasakan akibatnya. Hanya ada satu guru yang ingin mengetahui tentang kebenaran tersebut. Tetapi dia banyak menderita dan akhirnya kalah...

Guru ini mengingatkan saya kepada Yesus yang datang ke dunia untuk memberi kesaksian tentang kebenaran. Tetapi dia harus menderita dan disalibkan oleh mereka yang tidak dapat menerima kebenarannya.

Marilah kita memikirkan diri kita sendiri. Apakah kita tahu apa itu kebenaran. Kita juga mempunyai masalah dengan kebenaran dan dengan orang-orang yang berbohong. Mungkin saja itu adalah pertempuran yang sesungguhnya dengan kuasa kegelapan.

Kadang kita takut menghadapi kebenaran. Kita lebih suka tidak mengetahui kebenaran karena hal itu mungkin menyakitkan. Jadi kita hidup seperti di dalam bioskop dan bermain layaknya para aktor. Ada orang-orang yang menipu kita. Kita lebih memilih diam dan menderita dari dalam karena kita tidak ingin bertarung dengan mereka. 

Kebenaran itu bersifat tenang tetapi kuat. Tidak ada ketakutan dalam kebenaran. Ketika kita dekat dengan Yesus, kita tidak takut menghadapi kebenaran. Kita bahkan siap menderita dan mengalami kesulitan-kesulitan. 

Ketika kita jauh dari kebenaran, kita terus hidup dalam kekuatiran dan ketakutan. Kita tidak dapat bergerak maju dan mengubah apapun dalam hidup kita.

Yesus Kristus mengajak kita untuk memberi kesaksian tentang kebenaran dan mengikut Dia. Marilah kita berani dan bijaksana dalam hidup kita sebagai pengikut Kristus.

Peter therefore denied it again, and immediately the rooster crowed. – John 18:27

Peter’s threefold denial of Christ is found in all four Gospel accounts. A question many people ask, is why would the chief of the disciples deny even knowing Jesus Christ? Of course, we don’t know exactly, but fear was most probably one of the main reasons.

Although all the other disciples had fled, Peter still followed Jesus after His arrest, but he kept his distance. Peter watched as Jesus was being falsely accused, beaten, and insulted. Peter must have been gripped with fear. Earlier, Jesus had warned His disciples, as well as us today, “If the world hates you, keep in mind that it hated me first” (John 15:18). Peter wasn’t nearly as courageous as he had said previously. In fear he denied Jesus Christ.

Maybe Peter felt unworthy, not “good enough” after the denials. Even though Peter denied Jesus Christ, he was given a second chance. Jesus still wanted a relationship with him and Peter still had a very important role to fulfil. We read about this new chance in John 21. It took place after the resurrection of Jesus, when Jesus cooked His disciples’ breakfast on the shores of Galilee on a fire of coals (John 21:9). Jesus did not tell Peter that he was not good enough, and that he needed time to prove himself again. Jesus just asked him: “Do you love me?” (John 21:15). This is a vital question for every believer, every day: Do you love Jesus? No matter what happened previously, do you love Jesus Christ, as your all-sufficient Saviour today? Do you accept His perfect, complete and finished work of salvation?

Maybe you have heard from others that ‘’you are not good enough’’. Maybe even a parent, teacher or even a friend told you that ‘’you are not good enough’’. That remark can be very painful and you might even start to believe it. But with Jesus Christ in your life, you are always good enough. You are His beloved child. As long as you accept His precious free gift of forgiveness of all sin, and accept Him as your sufficient Saviour and Lord, you are His beloved child.

As Peter himself writes in 2 Peter 3: 9: “He is patient with you, not wanting any to perish”. Let’s build a personal relationship with our Lord and Saviour.  He is standing at the door and knocking. Let's make sure to open the door and let Him into our lives (Rev 3:20).

“Who is it you want?” - John 18:4

Have you wondered, if one wants to get a root canal treatment, you will require a qualified dentist and probably a good reputable dentist to treat it. If one wants to get their hair cut will visit a hairdresser. If one wants their car to be repaired, you will require the car mechanic. So basically for every need you have a person who renders the service. As we focus on this passage from the Gospel of John chapter 18 verses 1 to 8. It is the passage where Jesus Christ will be arrested. Betrayed by Judas his disciple. Christ chose to be found in the Garden. The perfect second Adam who is a life-giver. Jesus knowing all that was going to happen, went out and asked them: “Who is it you want?” “Jesus of Nazareth,” they replied. “I am he,” Jesus said. 

Today Jesus is asking us the same question “Who is it you want?’ let me emphasize. 'Who’ and not ‘What’. Who is Jesus to us? That is one question we need to ponder quite deeply, who is Jesus for us. What is His role in our life? Is He just someone who answers our prayers in time of needs. Or is Jesus the Centre of our Life.

Before we answer that question, WE must seek the Truth. Savor the Truth and Believe in it.

Let us today ask ourselves: Who is Jesus to us personally?

"To testify to the truth" – John 18:37.

Recently I watched the Japanese movie - "Monster". There are many people in the movie who live in Japan and have problems with the truth. They do not tell the truth and therefore their life is terrible. It is difficult not only for them but also for their relatives who experience the consequences. There is only one teacher who wants to discover the truth. But he suffers a lot and cannot win...

This teacher reminded me about Jesus who came to the world to testify to the truth. But he had to suffer and was crucified by those who do not accept his truth.

Let us think about ourselves. Do we know what the truth is. We also have some problems with the truth and with those people who lie. It can be a real fight with the powers of darkness.

Sometimes we are afraid to face the truth. We prefer not to know the whole truth because it can be painful. So we live our life like in the theatre and play like actors. There are people who deceive us. We rather choose silence and inner suffering because we do not want to fight with them.

The truth is calm but strong. There is no fear in the truth. When we are close to Jesus, we are not afraid to face the truth. We are even ready to suffer and experience difficulties.

When we are far from the truth, we live in constant anxiety and fear. We are not able to move forward and change anything in our life.

Jesus Christ encourages us to testify to the truth and follow him. Let us become brave and prudent in our life as followers of Christ.

Queridos amigos en Cristo Jesús,

Todos sabemos y creemos que Jesús ya ha conquistado el mundo muriendo en la cruz, destruyendo así tanto el pecado como la muerte. Jesús derrotó al diablo. La manifestación plena de esta victoria la experimentaremos en la segunda venida de Cristo. Mientras tanto, Jesús anima a sus discípulos a mantener la paz, incluso frente a las persecuciones. En Jesús pueden encontrar una paz verdadera y duradera, diferente a cualquier otra. Como leemos en el evangelio de Juan 14:27: "La paz os dejo, mi paz os doy; yo no os la doy como el mundo la da. No se turbe vuestro corazón, ni tenga miedo."

Queridos amigos, vemos cristianos siendo perseguidos en todo el mundo simplemente por seguir a Jesús. A pesar de la persecución, ellos dan un testimonio poderoso de su fe, y en muchos casos están dispuestos a sacrificar sus vidas por Él. En medio de todas sus dificultades y luchas, pueden permanecer en paz porque creen en las palabras de Jesús: "en mí podréis tener paz."

El mundo puede ofrecer diversos medios para alcanzar la paz, pero estos no son ni reales ni duraderos. ¿Podemos apoyarnos en Jesús para encontrar paz en nuestras dificultades y luchas? Sin duda, las cosas no serán fáciles para los verdaderos seguidores de Jesús. Sin embargo, incluso ante todos los desafíos, si somos fieles a Él y confiamos en que siempre está con nosotros, Él nos ayudará a mantener la paz.

Spanish version: Glorificar

Te glorifiqué en la tierra. - Juan 17:4

 En este pasaje está la invitación a glorificar al Señor para ser parte del bien. Quien ama y cree en Dios tendrá vida eterna. Todos deben conocer el bien, caminar por el camino sin pecado y haciendo el bien.

 

No debes tener miedo de nada, quédate callado si has hecho el bien y glorificado el nombre del Señor. Oremos por ser glorificados en el nombre del Señor por ser parte de Él.

 

Debemos luchar y esforzarnos en compartir cada vez mejor las palabras del Señor para que todos seamos testigos de Su inmenso Amor por todos nosotros. Ser conscientes de que todo lo que tenemos es un regalo de Dios. Cuando compartimos la palabra de Dios, tenemos un poder enorme y fuerte dentro de nosotros. No es por nuestra propia fuerza, sino Dios que está hablando a través de nosotros.

 

Oro por todos aquellos que me han dado la oportunidad de encontrarme con ellos en mi camino, porque al tratar con estas personas, me han ayudado a ser la hermosa persona que soy ahora. Disfruto vivir en Tu nombre tratando de hacer lo mejor que puedo para ser como tú en amar al prójimo.

 

Haz tu mejor esfuerzo para salvar más y más almas porque DIOS siempre gana contra el diablo.

Glorify | EN | ES | IN

I glorified you on the earth. - John 17:4

In this passage there is the invite to glorify the Lord in order to be part of the good. Who loves and believes in God will have eternal life. Everyone must know the good, walk in the path without sin and doing the good.

You don’t have to be afraid of anything , be quiet if you know to have done good and glorified the Lord’s name. Let’s pray for being glorified in the name of the Lord for becoming part of Him.

We must struggle and strive ourselves sharing the Lord’s words better and better in order that everyone become witnesses of His huge Love for all us. Be conscientise that everything we have is a gift by God. When we are sharing God’s word we have a huge strong power inside us. It is not only our strength, God is talking through us.

I pray for everyone who have given me the opportunity to meet them along my path, because dealing with these people, you make me able to be the beauty soul that I am now. I enjoy living in your name trying to do my best to be as similar as you are in loving your neighbor.

Do your best to save more and more souls because GOD win always against the devil.

" Semuanya itu Kukatakan kepadamu, supaya kamu beroleh damai sejahtera dalam Aku. Dalam dunia kamu menderita penganiayaan, tetapi kuatkanlah hatimu, Aku telah mengalahkan dunia " - Yoh 16 : 33

Saudara-saudara seiman dalam Kristus Yesus, kita semua tahu dan percaya bahwa Yesus sudah menaklukkan dunia dengan mati di kayu salib. Dia menghancurkan baik kuasa dosa maupun maut. Yesus menghancurkan si iblis. Perwujudan yang nyata dari hal ini kita akan dapat mengalaminya pada saat kedatangan Kristus yang kedua kali. Yesus memberikan semangat kepada murid-muridNya bahwa meskipun mereka akan menghadapi penganiayaan, mereka akan beroleh damai sejahtera. Dalam Yesus mereka dapat menemukan kedamaian yang tidak ada di tempat lain. Damai sejahtera yang Yesus berikan cukup berbeda dan nyata serta tidak berkesudahan. Kita membacanya dalam kitab Yoh 14 : 27 - " Damai sejahtera Kutinggalkan bagimu. Damai sejahtera-Ku Kuberikan kepadamu, dan apa yang Kuberikan tidak dapat diberikan oleh dunia kepadamu. Janganlah gelisah dan gentar hatimu."

Saudara-saudara, kita melihat di seluruh dunia orang-orang kristen sedang dianiaya hanya karena mereka mengikut Yesus. Kita juga melihat bahwa walaupun mereka dianiaya, mereka tetap memberikan kesaksian iman mereka yang kuat. Dalam banyak kasus mereka bahkan bersedia mengorbankan nyawanya bagi Yesus. Dalam semua kesulitan dan pergumulan mereka, mereka masih dapat beroleh damai sejahtera hanya karena mereka percaya kepada apa yang Yesuams katakan - " dalam Aku kamu beroleh damai sejahtera." 

Dunia mungkin menawarkan kepada kita berbagai cara untuk beroleh damai sejahtera yang tentunya bersifat tidak nyata dan hanya sementara. Dapatkah kita bersandar pada Yesus untuk beroleh damai sejahtera di dalam kesulitan dan pergumulan kita ? Tentunya hal-hal tersebut tidaklah mudah bagi pengikut Yesus yang sejati. Tetapi bahkan di tengah-tengah semua tantangan, jika kita beriman kepada-Nya dan yakin bahwa Dia selalu bersama dengan kita hal itu akan membantu kita beroleh damai sejahtera.

Peace | EN | IN | ES

"I have said this to you, so that in me you may have peace. In the world you face persecution. But take courage; I have conquered the world!" – John 16:33

Dear friends in Christ Jesus, we all know and believe that Jesus has already conquered the world by dying on the cross. He destroyed both sin and death. Jesus destroyed the devil. The real manifestation of this we will be able to experience at the second coming of Christ. Jesus is encouraging his disciples that even though they will have to face persecutions, they can be at peace. In Jesus they can find peace and nowhere else.  The peace that Jesus gives is quite different and which is real and lasting. We read it in the same gospel of John 14: 27 – "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled, and do not let them be afraid."

Dear friends, we see all over the world Christians being persecuted just because they follow Jesus. We also see that however persecuted they are, they give a strong witness of their faith. In many cases they are even willing to sacrifice their life for Jesus. In all their difficulties and struggles they are able to be still at peace just because they believe in what Jesus said – "in me you may have peace."

The world might offer us various means to be at peace which is not real and not lasting. Are we able to lean on to Jesus for peace in our difficulties and struggles? It is for sure that things won't be that easy for the true followers of Jesus. But even amidst all the challenges, if we can be faithful to him and have the confidence that he is always with us, he will help us to be at peace.

Jesús habla a sus discípulos con gran amor. Porque sabe que es la mejor manera de llegar al corazón humano. El Hijo de Dios entiende lo importante que es la unidad. Él se une con el Padre en el Espíritu Santo. En consecuencia, hace todo de acuerdo con la voluntad de su Padre. Además, trata de explicar asuntos espirituales a las personas que pertenecen a esta tierra. Por lo tanto, da un ejemplo de la verdadera vid y la amistad.

Los discípulos pueden aprender de su Maestro los valores más importantes. Jesucristo es un experto en espiritualidad y teología. Así que les muestra cómo construir relaciones profundas. Tanto las cosas celestiales como las terrenales son importantes para Jesús. El universo es el lugar donde trabaja el Espíritu de Dios. Los seres humanos a menudo cometen errores a través de sus propias acciones y decisiones. Pueden sentirse secos y vacíos cuando carecen de amor. Este hecho los lleva a varias enfermedades y otros problemas.

Los hijos de Dios necesitan aceptar que son amados. Deben abrir sus corazones a la verdadera amistad. Pertenecen a la misma vid verdadera que es podada por el Padre y esperan la limpieza del Espíritu Santo. También necesitan la enseñanza que proviene de las Sagradas Escrituras. Cuando leen la Biblia, permanecen fieles al amor de la Santísima Trinidad. Crecen en el amor especial del Padre, del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo. Solo en este amor, logran la felicidad perfecta y la paz interior. También pueden amarse unos a otros y llenar el mundo entero con amor divino.

La comunidad es el lugar adecuado para mostrar amor a los amigos y ofrecer nuestra vida. En la Iglesia, el Señor nos habla como sus amigos, nos dice todo y nos da lo que pedimos en su santo nombre.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas. La vida ofrece muchas opciones a los seres humanos y cada decisión que se toma conlleva riesgos. Una de las decisiones en la vida es convertirse en seguidor de Jesucristo. La decisión de convertirse en cristiano es un desafío porque debemos estar preparados para asumir los riesgos. Sin embargo, Dios nunca nos deja luchar solos, sino que envía Su Espíritu Santo para que podamos soportar y perseverar en cada riesgo que enfrentamos.

 

El bautismo nos hace seguidores de Jesucristo y miembros de la iglesia. En el bautismo, reconocemos al Dios Trino: Dios Padre que creó el cielo y la tierra, Jesucristo, el Hijo de Dios a quien el
Padre envió al mundo, y el Espíritu Santo a quien el Padre envió para consolarnos y fortalecernos. Además, reconocemos a la única iglesia santa y apostólica y participamos de la misión de Dios en el mundo.

 

Desde el comienzo de su misión en el mundo, Jesús proclamó los valores del Reino de Dios relacionados con la verdad, la justicia, la misericordia y el perdón. Por lo tanto, realizó milagros para mostrar a las personas acerca del Reino de Dios y la Paternidad de Dios para el mejoramiento del mundo. Sin embargo, los valores del Reino de Dios competían con los valores que ofrece este mundo. Jesús encontró oposición. Fue odiado y tuvo que correr el riesgo más importante de su vida: sufrir y morir en la cruz. Esa es la manera en que Dios abre los ojos de todo incrédulo para que la gloria de Dios se haga evidente en el mundo.

 

Jesús ha enseñado y ejemplificado una actitud de vida; una vida valiosa y con propósito para nosotros. Aquel que sea seguidor de Cristo también sufrirá y será perseguido por la fe y la verdad que se proclama, tanto a través de palabras como de acciones. Debemos estar preparados para ser odiados. Sin embargo, esto no significa que tengamos miedo y nos retiremos de la vida social. Al contrario, estamos llamados a mostrar cada vez más nuestra identidad participando con todas las personas de buena voluntad por un mundo mejor.

 

Estamos llamados a resistir y perseverar en la fe porque Dios mismo envía al Espíritu Santo para consolarnos y fortalecernos en nuestro testimonio de fe. Nuestra fuerza proviene del Espíritu Santo, que nos permite ser testigos de la Verdad en el mundo.

La siguiente es una reflexión sobre el pasaje del Evangelio donde Jesús estaba compartiendo ideas sobre el don del Espíritu Santo que pronto sería revelado a los 12 discípulos. Esto fue sólo unas horas antes de su traición por parte de Judas (quien vendió a su Amo y Señor por el miserable precio de un esclavo, es decir, 30 monedas de plata) y su arresto por parte de las autoridades del templo con una gran compañía de hombres armados.

 

Los estaba preparando para la llenura del Espíritu Santo, que descendería sobre los discípulos con poder y fuerza en el día de Pentecostés. Esto transformó dramáticamente a estos hombres que antes eran tímidos y que huyeron de la escena después del arresto de Jesús. Pero pudieron predicar con valentía las Buenas Nuevas después de recibir el poder del Espíritu Santo en Pentecostés.  Nosotros también, como creyentes del Nuevo Testamento, necesitamos buscar la llenura del Espíritu Santo diariamente para tener la sabiduría, el coraje y el poder para realizar la obra de Dios.

 

Como Jesús le había dicho amorosamente a María Magdalena cuando se le apareció por primera vez en la mañana de Pascua, en Juan 20:17, Jesús le dijo: 'No me retengas, porque aún no he subido al Padre. Pero ve a mis hermanos y diles: "Subo a mi Padre y a vuestro Padre, a mi Dios y a vuestro Dios".  Nosotros también debemos ser pacientes y esperar en el Señor para poder movernos y caminar en el poder del Espíritu Santo.

1"Semuanya ini Kukatakan kepadamu, supaya kamu jangan kecewa dan menolak Aku. 2 Kamu akan dikucilkan, bahkan akan datang saatnya bahwa setiap orang yang membunuh kamu akan menyangka bahwa ia berbuat bakti bagi Allah. 3 Mereka akan berbuat demikian, karena mereka tidak mengenal baik Bapa maupun Aku. 4 Tetapi semuanya ini Kukatakan kepadamu, supaya apabila datang saatnya kamu ingat, bahwa Aku telah mengatakannya kepadamu."

Sebab jikalau Aku tidak pergi, Penghibur itu tidak akan datang kepadamu, tetapi jikalau Aku pergi, Aku akan mengutus Dia kepadamu. 8 Dan kalau Ia datang, Ia akan menginsafkan dunia akan dosa, kebenaran dan penghakiman; 9 akan dosa, karena mereka tetap tidak percaya kepada-Ku; 10 akan kebenaran, karena Aku pergi kepada Bapa dan kamu tidak melihat Aku lagi; 11 akan penghakiman, karena penguasa dunia ini telah dihukum. 12 Masih banyak hal yang harus Kukatakan kepadamu, tetapi sekarang kamu belum dapat menanggungnya. 13 Tetapi apabila Ia datang, yaitu Roh Kebenaran, Ia akan memimpin kamu ke dalam seluruh kebenaran; sebab Ia tidak akan berkata-kata dari diri-Nya sendiri, tetapi segala sesuatu yang didengar-Nya itulah yang akan dikatakan-Nya dan Ia akan memberitakan kepadamu hal-hal yang akan datang. 14 Ia akan memuliakan Aku, sebab Ia akan memberitakan kepadamu apa yang diterima-Nya dari pada-Ku. 15 Segala sesuatu yang Bapa punya, adalah Aku punya; sebab itu Aku berkata: Ia akan memberitakan kepadamu apa yang diterima-Nya dari pada-Ku."

 

Perenungan bagian Injil ini dimana Yesus membagikan tentang Karunia Roh Kudus yang segera diungkapkan kepada 12 murid-Nya. Ini terjadi beberapa jam sebelum penghianatan yang dilakukan oleh Yudas (orang yang menjual Guru dan Tuhan mereka dengan harga yang murah seharga seorang budak, yaitu 30 keping perak) dan penangkapan dilakukan oleh otoritas Bait Suci dengan sejumlah besar orang yang bersenjata. 

 

Dia sedang mempersiapkan mereka untuk menerima Roh Kudus, yang akan turun atas para murid dan Bunda Maria dengan kuasa dan kekuatan pada hari Pentakosta. Ini secara dramatis mengubah para pria yang sebelumnya penakut dan yang melarikan diri setelah Yesus ditangkap. Namun, mereka dapat memberitakan kabar baik dengan berani setelah diberi kuasa dan kemampuan oleh Roh Kudus pada hari Pentakosta. Kita juga sebagai orang percaya pada Perjanjian Baru, perlu mencari kepenuhan Roh Kudus setiap hari agar memiliki kebijaksanaan, keberanian, dan kekuatan untuk melakukan pekerjaan Tuhan. 

 

Seperti yang dikatakan oleh Yesus dengan penuh kasih kepada Maria ketika Dia pertama kali menampakkan diri kepadanya pada pagi hari saat Paskah, dalam Yohanes 20:17 – kata Yesus kepadanya: "Janganlah engkau memegang Aku, sebab Aku belum pergi kepada Bapa, tetapi pergilah kepada saudara-saudara-Ku dan katakanlah kepada mereka, bahwa sekarang Aku akan pergi kepada Bapa-Ku dan Bapa-Mu, kepada Allah-Ku dan Allah-Mu." 

Kita juga perlu bersabar dan menunggu Tuhan untuk bergerak dan berjalan dalam kuasa Roh Kudus. 

 

Saya akan mengakhiri refleksi yang saya bagikan saat ini dengan himne dan doa yang indah untuk mengundang Roh Kudus bagi kita semua:

Spirit of truth | EN | IN | ES

When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; - John 16:13

John 16:1-15: 

 1 'I have said these things to you to keep you from stumbling. 2 They will put you out of the synagogues. Indeed, an hour is coming when those who kill you will think that by doing so they are offering worship to God. 3 And they will do this because they have not known the Father or me. 4 But I have said these things to you so that when their hour comes you may remember that I told you about them. 'I did not say these things to you from the beginning, because I was with you. 5 But now I am going to him who sent me; yet none of you asks me, "Where are you going?" 6 But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts. 7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you. 8 And when he comes, he will prove the world wrong about sin and righteousness and judgement: 9 about sin, because they do not believe in me; 10 about righteousness, because I am going to the Father and you will see me no longer; 11 about judgement, because the ruler of this world has been condemned. 12 'I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. 13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth; for he will not speak on his own, but will speak whatever he hears, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. 14 He will glorify me, because he will take what is mine and declare it to you. 15 All that the Father has is mine. For this reason I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you.

 

Reflecting on the Gospel passage where Jesus was sharing insights on the soon to be revealed Gift of the Holy Spirit to the 12 disciples. This was only hours before His betrayal by Judas (who sold their Master and Lord for the paltry price of a slave, i.e. 30 silver coins) and arrest by the Temple authorities with a large company of armed men. 

He was preparing them for the infilling of the Holy Spirit, Who would descend upon the disciples and Mother Mary with power and might on the day of Pentecost. This dramatically transformed these previously timid men who fled the scene after Jesus' arrest. But they could boldly preach the Good News after being empowered by the Holy Spirit at Pentecost.  We too, as New Testament believers, need to seek the infilling of the Holy Spirit daily to have the wisdom, courage, and power to perform God's work. 

As Jesus had lovingly told Mary when He first appeared to her on Easter morning, in John 20:17 - Jesus said to her, 'Do not hold on to me, because I have not yet ascended to the Father. But go to my brothers and say to them, "I am ascending to my Father and your Father, to my God and your God".  We too need to be patient and wait upon the LORD to move and walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. 

I'll end my sharing with this beautiful hymn and prayer to invite a fresh infilling of the Holy Spirit on all of us:

Reflection on John 16:1-15 by Chris Tan

Saudara-saudaraku, hidup memberikan banyak pilihan kepada manusia, dan setiap keputusan yang dibuat membawa resiko. Salah satu pilihan dalam hidup adalah menjadi pengikut Yesus Kristus. Keputusan menjadi seorang kristen adalah suatu tantangan karena kita harus siap menanggung resikonya. Namun, Tuhan tidak pernah meninggalkan kita berjuang sendiri, tetapi Dia mengirimkan Roh Kudus-Nya agar kita dapat bertahan dan bertekun dalam setiap resiko yang kita hadapi.

Baptisan membuat kita menjadi pengikut Yesus Kristus dan anggota gereja. Dalam baptisan, kita mengakui ketritungggalan Allah : Allah Bapa yang menciptakan surga dan bumi, Yesus Kristus, Anak Allah yang diutus Bapa ke dalam dunia, dan Roh Kudus yang diutus Bapa untuk menghibur dan menguatkan. Dan lagi, kita mengenal satu gereja kerasulan kudus dan ikut serta dalam misi Tuhan di dunia.

Dari permulaan misi-Nya di dunia, Yesus menyatakan nilai-nilai kerajaan Allah yang berhubungan dengan kebenaran, keadilan, rahmat, dan pengampunan. Oleh karena itu, Dia melakukan banyak mujizat untuk menunjukkan kepada orang kerajaan Allah dan keayahan Bapa demi kemajuan dunia. Namun, nilai-nilai kerajaan Allah bertentangan dengan nilai-nilai yang ditawarkan oleh dunia ini. Yesus menghadapi perlawanan. Dia dibenci dan Dia harus mengambil resiko hidup-Nya yang paling berarti : menderita dan mati di kayu salib. Itu adalah cara Tuhan membuka mata setiap orang yang tidak percaya supaya kemuliaan Tuhan menjadi nyata di dalam dunia ini.

Yesus sudah mengajarkan dan memberi contoh suatu sikap hidup, suatu kehidupan yang berharga dan berarti bagi kita. Seorang pengikut Kristus akan juga menderita dan dianiaya karena iman dan kebenaran yang diberitakan, baik lewat kata-kata maupun tindakan. Kita harus siap dibenci. Namun, hal ini bukan berarti bahwa kita menjadi takut dan menarik diri dari kehidupan sosial. Sebaliknya, kita dipanggil untuk semakin menunjukkan identitas kita dengan ambil bagian bersama semua orang yang beritikad baik untuk dunia yang lebih baik. 

Kita dipanggil untuk bertahan dan bertekun dalam iman karena Tuhan sendiri mengutus Roh Kudus untuk menghibur dan menguatkan kita dalam kesaksian iman kita. Kekuatan kita berasal dari Roh Kudus yang memampukan kita menjadi saksi-saksi kebenaran di dalam dunia.

If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you – John 15:20

Dear brothers and sisters. Life gives many choices to human beings, and every decision made carries risks. One of the choices in life is to become a follower of Jesus Christ. The decision to become a Christian is challenging because we must be ready to bear the risks. However, God never leaves us to struggle alone, but sends His Holy Spirit so that we can endure and persevere in every risk we face.

Baptism makes us followers of Jesus Christ and members of the church. In baptism, we acknowledge the Triune God:  God the Father who created heaven and earth, Jesus Christ, the Son of God whom the Father sent into the world, and the Holy Spirit whom the Father sent to comfort and strengthen. In addition, we recognize the one holy and apostolic church and participate in God's mission in the world.

From the beginning of His mission in the world, Jesus proclaimed the values of the Kingdom of God relating to truth, justice, mercy, and forgiveness. Therefore, He performed miracles to show people the Kingdom of God and the Fatherhood of God for the betterment of the world. However, the values of the Kingdom of God were at odds with the values offered by this world. Jesus encountered opposition. He was hated and he had to take the most significant risk of his life: suffering and dying on the cross. That is God's way of opening the eyes of every unbeliever so that God's glory becomes evident in the world.

Jesus has taught and exemplified an attitude of living; a valuable and meaningful life for us. A follower of Christ will also suffer and be persecuted for the faith and truth that is proclaimed, both through words and actions. We must be prepared to be hated. However, this does not mean that we become afraid and withdraw from social life. On the contrary, we are called to increasingly show our identity by participating with all people of goodwill for a better world.

We are called to endure and persevere in faith because God Himself sends the Holy Spirit to comfort and strengthen us in our witness of faith. Our strength comes from the Holy Spirit, who enables us to be witnesses of the truth in the world.
