Secundum Melchisedech | The Order of Melchizedek

" You are a priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek” - Hebrew 7:17.

All parents in the world would be delighted to have an independent child, who would be able to take care of himself without depending on other people. Raising a child to grow up in self-reliance is a formidable task that the school cannot handle, including the church. Self-reliance can be evoked from proper breeding and the neighborhood of proper children. A child's self-reliance is the responsibility of the parents, not someone else.

The Lord is pleased when our lives depend fully on His ability. Holy, innocent, undefiled, and obedient to His will. We have to put aside all of our egos, desires, anxieties, and not depend on ourselves. We should not disregard the importance of a life that depends on the Lord. Even when we are close to God, it is not uncommon to assume that such thing is possible through our personal effort that comply with religious rules and practices. In fact, it is not about the service of the Jewish religious priests as an obedience to the law. Instead, it is Christ's service as a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek, in which He had sacrificed himself once for the ransom of many beyond other sacrifices.

If the obedience to the law cannot bring people to perfection, then the gift of God in Christ draws us closer to God. To simplify it, our efforts are not as compliant enough to the rules of religion, that are able to bring us closer and reconcile to God. It is our surrender to God in the likeness of Jesus Christ. So we are all invited to continue growing a dependent attitude on the Lord because that is what can bring us closer to the Lord.
